Social Communications

YouthAIDS is a project implemented by SFH to reach young adults. Its main goal is to reduce the spread of HIV and AIDS among young adults aged 15 - 24 years.

YouthAIDS messages encourage young people to make life-saving decisions. Programmes target and educate young adults in a variety of ways, including music, peer education and community mobilisation. YouthAIDS promotes healthy behaviour for HIV prevention, including: abstinence, delayed sexual debut, mutual fidelity, "Know Your Status" and correct and consistent condom use for young, sexually-active people.

YouthAIDS provides a platform for corporate involvement and works to mobilise the entertainment industry in HIV and Aids prevention. Through corporate cause marketing partnerships and awareness campaigns, YouthAIDS is able to expand its programmess and empower young people to avoid HIV infection.

YouthAIDS peer educators spread the message of responsible sexual behaviour through a variety of avenues, including school outreach, parent-child communication workshops, community outreach, peer education and radio talk shows.

YouthAIDS meets with relevant stakeholders regularly to provide a progress report and to share future plans. These meetings also provide an opportunity to network and form partnerships with more organisations.
